The EWRS is an international organization which promotes and co-ordinates scientific research into all aspects of weed science.

Using this site, the EWRS aims to provide support for international collaboration in weed science, partly by assisting the work of the EWRS Working Groups, and partly by providing general information and resources.

Weed Research
Editorship 2019-2021

The European Weed Research Society (EWRS), is seeking a new Editor-in-Chief for Weed Research who will be officially responsible for the Journal from 2019 through 31 December 2021.
The duties of the Editor-in-Chief will include:

  • The new Editor-in-Chief will make every effort to publish and actively solicit authoritative, original and high-quality research articles on all aspects of weeds, defined as plants that impact adversely on economic, aesthetic or environmental aspects of any system.
  • He/she will take responsibility for the scientific contents of Weed Research.
  • He/she will supervise the processes of peer review, reviewer selection, and communication with authors.
  • He/she will make every effort to ensure a rapid and efficient review of all submitted papers.
  • He/she will maintain the flow of accepted papers at a level and on a schedule for regular publication of Weed Research.
  • He/she will work closely with the Society and Publisher to support the society’s mission and to grow the output and impact of Weed Research.

Application package:

  • A current curriculum vitae. Candidates for the position should:
    • Have internationally recognized standing within the subject area
    • Have a broad knowledge of the field
    • Be experienced in editorial decision making
    • Be highly skilled in editing and writing
  • Specific objectives he/she wants to achieve over the duration of his/her term.
  • Include vision for the future of Weed Research. Strategies to increase output, readership, reputation and impact.
  • Approach to maintaining the quality, accuracy and fairness of the review process.
  • Indication of when he/she will be able to take on full responsibility of Editor-in-Chief duties. Ideal candidate to take on duties from 1st January 2019.
