Weed genomics training workshop @ 19th EWRS symposium

Weed genomics training workshop @ 19th EWRS Symposium

When: 19 June 2022 from 13.00-16.00

Where: Athens (Greece) Conference Location

Organisers: Eric Patterson (Michigan State University, US), Dana MacGregor (Rothamsted Research, UK), Paul Neve (Copenhagen University, Denmark) and Lena Ulber (Julius Kuehn-Institute, Germany).

The pre-conference training workshop will focus on manipulating and utilizing weed genomics data and provide a hands-on overview of the tools developed by the International Weed Genomics Consortium (IWGC) (www.weedgenomics.org).

The IWGC is a public/private community of researchers aiming to develop genomic tools and resources to stimulate global research in weed biology and management. The IWGC’s major objectives are to 1) obtain quality reference genomes for the most important weed species worldwide, 2) provide user-friendly genome analytical tools and training through web-based databases and resources, and 3) facilitate inter-disciplinary collaboration and workforce development within this emerging field.

The workshop will be free for everyone interested in the analysis of weed genomics data and will be limited to a maximum of 20 people.

Preliminary program

13:00 - 16:00: Training workshop on tools developed by the IWGC

(Organiser: Lena Ulber. Trainers: Eric Patterson, Dana MacGregor)

  • Short introduction to the IWGC’s structure and mission
  • Introduction to weed molecular biology and genomics
  • Introduction to WeedPedia and genomics databases
