The WG-coordinators will keep the participants informed on rescheduling of this event.
During this workshop we will have an excursion day with visit of field trials on physical and cultural weed control tools, and a demonstration tools of companies working in the field.
The first day will be dedicated to the discussion on the efficacy of physical and cultural weed control tools (crop rotation, cover crops, mechanical weeding, physical weeding), and their possible use in the context of herbicide resistance evolution and management will be discussed.
Proposals for contributions are welcome by completing the registration form and can send it to both Roland Beffa and Marleen Riemens, no later than the 28th of February 2020.
Venue
The Workshop will take place at the locations of Wageningen University and Research in Wageningen and Lelystad, the Netherlands.

Costs for participation
The estimated cost of the registration will be approximately 200 € for regular members of the EWRS and 80 € for student members of the EWRS. Non-EWRS members will be charged an extra fee of 60 €, which is the yearly membership price for the EWRS. Non-member students will be charged an extra fee of 30 €, which is their yearly membership price for the EWRS. The registration fee will cover: Welcome drink and light meal on Sunday evening, lunches and morning and afternoon coffee during the workshop, diner on Monday, transport from your hotel to the venue, and the excursion on Tuesday.
Scientific programme
The keynote theme of the workshop is “Physical and cultural weed control tools and their influence on herbicide resistance evolution".
The workshop aims to be informal and to stimulate as much discussion as possible among participants. We will combine plenary scientific sessions with oral and poster presentations, concurrent round-table discussions, and a final plenary session (reports on round-table discussions, directions for the future, etc.). You are most welcome to suggest relevant speakers and themes.
Abstracts and Proceedings
Abstracts are mandatory for all presenters. Everybody must submit a final abstract by e-mail to: roland.beffa@bayer.com and marleen.riemens@wur.nl. You can use the registration form. One-page abstracts of all scientific contributions will be available at the workshop.

Please note that EWRS can offer travelling scholarships for young scientist who would like to attend the workshop. You are welcome to apply for a grant, if you are a MSc student, a PhD student or a post-doc and if you are less than 35 years of age. Keynote speakers (30min presentation)
Attendee presentation (oral, 15min; poster)
One day of presentation and discussion. One day excursion, mechanical weed / soil management / field experimentation. About 40ha dedicated to new forms of agriculture and strip cropping.
Scopes:
- Non-chemical weed control
- Weed resistance evolution in that context (focus on the European context)
- Arable crops / Non arable crops
Meeting logistic
- Sunday April 5th: arrival in Wageningen – hotel in Wageningen to be booked by each attendee
- Monday April 6th: Talk and presentation in Wageningen / Location will be announced
- Tuesday April 7th: Transfer with the bus to the experimental station in Lelystad/ close to Schiphol airport
- End of afternoon, take the train or plane back home or possibility to be back in Wageningen for one additional evening and night and leave on Wednesday 8th of April.
